Today , the Fraunhofer Material and Components Group encompasses the eleven Fraunhofer institutes whose mainstay is material sciences, while other institutes are involved as guests in the Group’s consultation and decision-making process. They also add their system and process expertise essential to material research (such as in simulation).

Below we will describe the area of the Group’s expertise and how it intends to advance it along the chains of innovation starting with material development, technological development and system integration right down to testing and assessing service behavior and reliability.
