Active control of stiffness and damping for more comfort and less noise in the passenger compartment

Exhaust and noise emissions have become an important issue due to the strong increase in traffic. This has triggered tightened statutory regulations and ground-breaking technical developments for advancing efforts for greater reductions with the challenges centering around

  • vibration control (noise reduction)
  • scaling back pollution with high-temperature materials, catalyst and particle filter technology or alternative drives (such as hydrogen, fuel cell and hybrid drives)
  • driving down fuel consumption with lightweight engineering, boosting drive performance (aviation turbine and engines) and active shapecontrol (for airplane wings)
